Finance Manager - North Asia (Location: Taipei / Hong Kong)

The Position

Reporting directly to the Senior Director- Finance, Asia Pacific, the Finance Manager – North Asia will have financial responsibility for the entire North Asia sub-region including Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea. The Finance Manager provides leadership in terms of strategic/forward thinking financial support, compliance and controls, decision support, and operational know-how to achieve the business performance targets. This position is the single point of contact for finance in North Asia and is an active member of the North Asia Leadership team in developing and executing on strategies. As the leader for North Asia, he/she will have full Balance Sheet and P&L accountability and will be responsible for budgeting and monitoring financial performance.

Duties & responsibilities:

Financial Management

  • Work with the North Asia team to drive the development of strategic (multi-year) long-term financial plans, encompassing market landscape, and capital requirements.
  • Develop and implement short-term financial and operational plans (budgets and forecasts).
  • Ensure financial results and related reporting requirements are accurate and submitted to Asia Pacific region in accordance with all deadlines.
  • Ensure that business and financial plans include defined and measurable initiatives and programs aligned to support such plans.
  • Set business framework for managing business investments, resource allocations, business planning, operations and performance measurements.
  • Provide financial modelling, financial analysis and valuation support for acquisitions, long-term contracts and other ad-hoc financial projects
  • Proactively monitor and put in place performance reporting processes to ensure both short-term and long-term objectives are met.
  • Provide management team with insightful decision support/business analysis.
  • Help advise and provide counsel to the Commercial Director North Asia and leadership team in growing and managing the business
  • Ensure pricing and investments support business growth and continued profit improvement
  • Monthly closing of Accounts with tight deadlines and reporting of financial results to management
  • Implement accounting procedures to ensure compliance with local statutory requirements and US GAAP
  • Establish and maintain strong business controls 

People Management

  • Supporting the Commercial Director North Asia to set business and performance objectives for the team; establish a culture that promotes high-performance.
  • Manage finance teams in multiple locations within the North Asia sub-region and motivate team members to produce quality results while fostering a positive and engaging work environment.

The Person

The successful candidate will have experience at a large global company, but he/she must also be entrepreneurial with an in-depth understanding of the North Asia business and environment. He/She must be able to excel within a results-oriented environment where revenue growth and profitability are emphasized. In addition, candidate should have demonstrated solid upward career progression in Accounting and FP&A of their past experiences. It is paramount the Finance Manager be capable of driving change management initiatives, influencing broad organizations, and introducing new strategies and tactics through effective and collegial means.

Hologic is seeking a proven, pragmatic finance leader who is driven. He/She must be a hands-on change agent capable of managing the requirements of the position while remaining mindful of existing cultures and competencies of newly acquired businesses. Leading by example, collaborating, facilitating continuous improvement, and openly communicating across all levels of the organization will be critical. In addition, the successful candidate will possess:

  • Experience with managing through organizational challenges.
  • 10+ years of progressive finance experience with increasing responsibilities in global organizations; a number of those years to include working in North Asia sub-region in an operating capacity.
  • 5+ years of experience in public accounting or corporate finance; 5+ years of experience in operations management or equivalent experience supporting the business as a finance partner
  • Demonstrated strategic, conceptual, and analytical skills, including a solid understanding of relevant sales and marketing campaigns.
  • Multi-national company experience with specific success working for US- based companies.
  • Excellent communication  skills  with  ability  to  effectively  interact  with  all  levels  of a company.
  • Prior acquisition and/or integration experience.
  • Ability to travel throughout the Asia Pacific region.
  • English fluency is a must and a solid understanding of the North Asia region is desired.

Qualification / Education

  • An undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting is required. An MBA or other advanced degree is highly desired.
